Lindsey Stirling

Lindsey Stirling is an American violinist and dancer from Los Angeles, California. She was a quarter-finalist on season 5 of Amercia’s Got Talent, not only showcasing her wicked skills on the violin, but her passion for dance and love of hip-hop and electronic music.

As a child, Lindsey always fascinated with dance. But, due to money constraints, her parents forced her to choose between dance classes and violin lessons. And while Lindsey chose the latter, she never gave up on her dream to become a dancer.

Now, Lindsey is known on Youtube for her videos that combine violin and dance. On live chat, Lindsey explained: “It is very unnatural to dance while playing the violin. I had to practice so hard to learn how to do it but now it is part of my expression and it comes naturally.”

I love Lindsey Stirling because her story alone is inspiring. Kids should never be forced to simply “choose” between one activity or the other. Despite money and time constraints, children should always follow their dreams and that is exactly what Lindsey has done.

Also, I love how Lindsey can seamlessly combine two worlds together without having them clash. She’s able to take a classical instrument and play along to another completely different genre like dubstep. Her music videos – like Elements above – are visually stunning as well.

You not only address the surface level of these videos, but you do your homework on finding out about the people that put these clips together, which provides just that much more insight.
